Matt is a Solicitor who specialises primarily in family law matters providing advice on divorce and separation, children and contact issues, domestic violence and also advising parents in public law children proceedings. As well as his family work, Matt also advises on commercial matters, transferring his litigation skills into the commercial world as well as advising on various contracts and agreements. Matt regularly represents his clients in the Family Proceedings Court, County Court and High Court.
Matt went to school in Walsall before going on to study European, International and Comparative Law at the University of Sheffield and spending one semester at the University of Canterbury in Christchurch, New Zealand. Following his degree, Matt went on to become a Legal Assistant at a top Birmingham law firm working in their top tier Legal 500 Family Department. Whilst working as a Legal Assistant, Matt also completed his Legal Practice Course at the College of Law in Birmingham, studying at the weekends.
Matt went on to undertake his training contract in September 2009, working in the Commercial Dispute Resolution, Business Law, Employment Law and Commercial and Governance Teams. Matt went on to qualify in September 2011, moving to Button Legal LLP in October 2011 having already gained 4 years legal experience.
In his spare time, Matt is an avid sports fan following football, rugby, cricket and Formula 1 amongst other sports. Matt has taken this passion into the legal profession having been a director of the Birmingham Trainee Solicitors Society from March 2010 to March 2011 being responsible for all sporting events as well as assisting in the general running of the society. Matt has also been involved in various elements of charity work and was a Trustee of a local school charity from 2008 through to 2011.
